Laois Offaly Education and Training Board LOETB continue to lead the way in Construction Training with the launch of an innovative Mobile NZEB Training Unit by the National Construction Training Centre in Mount Lucas.
The new Mobile Training Unit will be used to demonstrate NZEB Construction Training and Career Opportunities nationwide, and was officially launched by Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, Simon Harris. The unit will travel to construction sites and schools across the country to allow people avail of construction courses wherever they are.
The state-of-the-art Training Campus in Mount Lucas is at the forefront of training in Ireland in the area of modern methods of construction, retrofitting and NZEB; and the new Mobile Unit will ensure continued adaptation of course delivery and education to ensure it is easy as possible to get training.
Increasing accessibility to construction training and courses
According to Minister Harris, “The development of this Mobile NZEB Training Unit is an important and exciting advancement for our construction skills and training offering. The Unit can be brought to construction sites and schools around the country, which will greatly increase accessibility to the courses on offer.
“The Unit is powered by solar PV panels and includes a working heat pump and ventilation system, making it entirely self-sufficient and showcasing excellent technologies.”

“The National Construction Training Campus, Mount Lucas and LOETB are delighted to officially launch the mobile NZEB and Retrofit training unit.
“The unit will mean greater accessibility to upskilling opportunities for workers in construction, supporting the sector to meet its Housing and Sustainability targets. The unit will also promote future careers in construction, introducing Senior Cycle students to the Modern Methods of Construction.”
