Bord na Móna announces nine companies for 2025 Accelerate Green GROW programme

Nine green businesses across Ireland have been selected by Bord na Móna for its Accelerate GROW Programme to support emerging companies in sustainability and climate action.

Ireland’s leading accelerator programme for green and sustainable business runs from the Accelerate Green Hub in Lough Boora, Offaly, is designed to empower early-stage enterprises, SMEs, and start-ups driving transformative solutions for a greener future.

The initiative is organised in conjunction with Resolve Partners, and is a key element of Bord na Móna’s €5m investment in fostering the growth of Ireland’s emerging green innovation network from 2022 to 2025.

Midlands participants include Circular Food Co. and Watt Footprint

Of the 9 companies selected to participate in this year’s Accelerate Green GROW Programme, 2 are local companies from the Midlands area – Circular Food Co. (part of BiaSol) from Tullamore, and Watt Footprint from Mullingar. Others in the programme are from locations around Ireland and include The Planted Way, Novelplast, BioSense, Easydry, JTM Energy, Pulse Market and Plaswire.

The businesses work in industries ranging from energy, foodtech, and circular economy solutions to biodiversity and AI.

The nine selected companies will participate in an intensive eight-module series of immersive learning sessions and mentoring workshops and engage with a wide range of industry experts, including representatives from enterprise and energy agencies, Irish corporates, research networks, and investors, while also benefiting from direct access to senior leaders within Bord na Móna.

Participants will also be given insights from Bord na Móna’s transition from a traditional peat business to a climate solutions and renewable energy company.

Further to that, the nine companies will also have a platform to showcase their innovations to an audience of Bord na Móna personnel and key stakeholders, industry experts, investors and the Greentech ecosystem at the Accelerate Green Conference that will take place in Tullamore on the 15th of May.

Accelerate Green has supported 60 Irish businesses since launch

The latest cohort brings the number of Irish businesses who have completed the programme since launch in 2022 to 60, with many having gone on to grow their offering and/or receive prestigious industry awards.

“Each year I am more impressed by the calibre of companies we have joining the Accelerate Green GROW Programme, and this year is no different. I am delighted to welcome the nine companies joining the programme this year and wish them well as the work to grow and scale their businesses,” said Tom Donnellan, CEO of Bord na Móna.

“As a company, we are continuously growing our renewable energy and climate solutions offering to adapt with the landscape, and this is down to the advancements and innovations we are exposed to by these inspiring organisations.

“The rollout of this programme is part of Bord na Móna’s €5m commitment to support the growth of Ireland’s rising green innovator network between 2022 and 2025. We are playing our part in decarbonisation and driving an environmentally sustainable economy.”

Future-proofing Ireland with a focus on the circular economy and sustainability

Mairead McGuinness, former European Commissioner for Financial Stability, Financial Services and the Capital Markets Union, added: “It is a privilege to be part of the official launch of the 2025 Accelerate Green GROW Programme at Bord na Móna’s Accelerate Green Hub, Lough Boora.

“I congratulate the nine businesses selected to take part in this year’s programme and wish them every success. Future proofing our country, our economy and our society requires a renewed focus on the circular economy and sustainability.

“We cannot ignore the threats of climate change and environmental degradation which is why the Accelerate Green GROW programme is so important to support businesses that can and will provide solutions.

“All businesses – large and small – face sustainability challenges. Those who have identified the challenges and are working to address them have a future, those that do not will not survive in the medium to long term.”

The programme is supported with partial funding through the Bord na Móna led European Commission funded LIFE Integrated Project ‘Peatlands and People’ (Erinn Innovation), an initiative that aims to support the realisation of a carbon-neutral, climate-resistant and environmentally sustainable country.
