Local Enterprise Week, Midlands—What’s on?

Small businesses and budding entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to attend numerous events aimed at helping them start or grow their business as part of this year’s Local Enterprise Week.

This initiative by the Local Enterprise Offices, supported by Enterprise Ireland and local authorities, takes place from March 3-7th across the country. The Midlands will host a variety of events open to all. These events will focus on business growth, exploring future trends, and accelerating business success. Events are hosted in person, with a selection of events also online.

Local Enterprise Week highlights – Offaly

Monday’s events kick off with Pádraic Ó Máille, a renowned business leader and motivational speaker, on ‘6 simple disciplines to boost your sales, profits, and free time’. This event starts at 12 noon in The Bridge House Hotel.

As an early celebration of International Women’s Day, Elaine Smith from Business FiTT will discuss healthy financial habits for your business, and Tanya Ross from Lion’s Breath Yoga Studio will demonstrate the importance of self-care and wellbeing at the Bridge House Hotel for the event ‘Inspire and Empower’.

Practical application of AI at Innovate to Elevate: Exploring Future Trends Day happens on Wednesday. Court Edmondson, Director of Robotics and Automation at IMR, will discuss ‘Transforming Business: Future Trends in Machine Learning and Robotics’, while Muireann Fitzmaurice, The Marketing Coach, will deliver an ‘Innovating with AI’ workshop.

Local Enterprise Week highlights – Longford

Longford’s Local Enterprise Week kicks off with Celebrating Longford’s Cosmopolitan Business Community with many businesspeople from across the globe that have set up in County Longford. Guest speaker at the event will be Conall Ó Móráin, a prominent business broadcaster and host of the ‘That Great Business Show’, which features insights and success stories from Irish businesses. It takes place in the Longford Arms Hotel on Monday, 3 March from 8.30am-10am. This is a free event, however, booking via LocalEnterprise.ie/Longford is essential. 

The week will conclude with the Tri-County Women in Business Event, taking place on Friday, 7 March, ahead of International Women’s Day. The event will see local businesswoman Niamh Parkes and her business ‘Heartlands Orchard’ representing Longford at the panel discussion element of the day. Heartlands Orchard produces preserves, chutneys and sauces from her orchard and gardens in Legan, County Longford. Organised by Longford, Leitrim, and Westmeath Local Enterprise Offices, the event takes place in Mullingar Park Hotel from 10.30am-2pm. Booking via LocalEnterprise.ie/Westmeath is essential.

The Green Panel aims to inform, inspire, and engage owner managers and their key staff in how they can implement Green technologies, processes and products to their business in order to be more competitive.

Friday 10th March – 10:00am to 11:30am
INNOVATE FOR BUSINESS SUCCESS
Innovate: to introduce improvements through new methods, ideas or products. Hosted by Noel Davidson of The Entrepreneurs Academy, this lively event will feature expert speakers. It will also outline the range of government and financial supports to drive innovation in your business.

Local Enterprise Week highlights – Laois

Padraic O Maille will give a talk ‘Achieve more for your business in 30 days!’ in the Midlands Park Hotel Portlaoise on Tuesday, March 4th (5.45pm – 7pm). Padraic is one of Ireland’s leading speakers and writers on business and motivational issues. He will teach attendees how to regain control of your day, increase your sales, lower your stress, and accomplish your goals faster than ever before. Book early as places are limited.

John O Shanahan from Lean BPI will deliver a seminar on ‘Digital Adoption in Small Businesses: Why it’s time to act faster’. John is a senior business consultant with over a decade of experience in Lean and Digitalisation. The event is at 11.30am – 1pm Portlaoise Enterprise Centre, Clonminam Business Park,

One -to-One Mentoring clinics will take place daily on topics such as Financial planning, Business advice, Digital marketing. A One to One Export Clinic will take place on Tuesday, March 4th where advice will be given on any queries in relation to export development and expansion into new markets.
